Welcome!

My name is Emmy Jensen and I'm a Master of Architecture student at Iowa State University's College of Design.

From now until May, I will be blogging about my experiences working on a project in Las Vegas, Nevada. Currently, my fellow studio-mates and I are gathering as much background information as we can before we visit Las Vegas and start designing. I personally have been doing a lot of research on the climate there. From what I've gathered, Las Vegas weather can essentially be summed up in two words: hot and dry. There is very little precipitation (about four inches per year) and a lot of heat. Although designing for the heat shouldn't be too terribly difficult, managing the water in a sustainable way will certainly prove challenging.
